Jacob Petit (1796–1868) was perhaps the most extravagant porcelain master of the 19th century.
In an era when classical elegance was considered the standard, he dared to make porcelain bold, vibrant, and luxurious. He is likely the only porcelain artist who progressed from being a humble decorator at Sèvres to owning his own manufactory in Fontainebleau (around 1830).
